Confession of a Radical

7 09 2009

Jason Upton’s music blesses me and challenges me to “draw nearer to my LORD.” Upton is a part of Key of David Ministry where blogger, Brian Zahnd, writes this thought-provoking article, Confession of a Radical.

Excerpt:

Recently I was speaking with a pastor whose political views I would describe as “God and Country zealotry.” In the course of our conversation, which had taken its typical political turn, he said, “We must defend Freedom, Democracy and Capitalism in the name of Christ.”

That is quite a claim. But is it true? Must Rousseau freedom, Jeffersonian democracy and Laissez-faire capitalism be defended in the name of Christ? Let’s think about it for a moment.

Let’s discuss this.  :)

What do cults believe?

6 09 2009

Written by: Dr. M.H. Tabb

Over 80% of the membership of the cults is composed of ex-Christians who were once members of orthodox denominations. Christians must be grounded in the Word of God if they are to avoid suffering the same fate (Heb. 5:12-14). We must be sure of our beliefs and be able to back them up with the Bible (1 Pet. 3:15; Col. 4:6). The cultist speaks the Christian’s language (Matt. 7:15-23; 2 Cor. 11:13-15) but he worships “another Jesus” (2 Cor. 11:1-4).

The Bible Challenge

17 08 2009

The Ravenhill Challenge to read Dr. Michael Brown’s book, The End of the American Gospel Enterprise, is a wonderful idea.  I pray many are being drawn closer to the LORD with this challenge.

~~~~~
How about an even more wonderful and much greater challenge to all believers in Messiah Jesus (Yeshua)?  Let’s call it, “The Bible Challenge.”
What is The Bible Challenge?
Simply put, The Bible Challenge is to read, meditate upon, memorize, pray (meaning to pray the Word),  and properly apply GOD’s Holy Word, the Bible, to our lives.  Details will be presented as we move along into the challenge.
Now, I know there are believers who are at different places in their walk with the LORD.  Some are new believers, some have been believers for many years, some are growing spiritually, and some are not receiving the proper discipleship they need to grow properly.  But ALL believers need to be in the Word of GOD on a daily basis.  All means all, so that includes you and me, dear brother or sister.  Being in the Word, and on our knees, on a daily basis will do more than anything else to make us into what He wants us to be.
Are you ready for the challenge of a lifetime? The Bible Challenge will begin soon, so keep checking this blog for more information.  :)
Be blessed!
Going to College?
If you’re a believer in the Bible and you’re planning on going to a secular college, Dr. Jason Lisle of Answers in Genesis offers a few tips for surviving in an environment hostile to Biblical Christianity for the college student.
Ponder the Big IF
9 08 2009
Eirene of He is my Delight points out a huge little word.
” ‘By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’ John 13:35
“I have read my Bible faithfully (pretty much) for over 11 years. I’ve read through the New Testament more times than I remember. I’ve quoted this particular verse frequently. But I read it today and realized that I have read it incorrectly all these years.”
Be Ready
Words of wisdom from the One who knows.
Matthew 24:1-51  KJV
(1) And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple.
(2) And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
(3) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
(4) And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
(5) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
(6) And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
(7) For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
(8) All these are the beginning of sorrows.
(9) Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
(10) And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
(11) And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
(12) And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
(13) But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
(14) And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
(15) When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
(16) Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains:
(17) Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
(18) Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
(19) And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
(20) But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
(21) For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
(22) And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
(23) Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
(24) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
(25) Behold, I have told you before.
(26) Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
(27) For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
(28) For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
(29) Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
(30) And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
(31) And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
(32) Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
(33) So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
(34) Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
(35) Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
(36) But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
(37) But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
(38) For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
(39) And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
(40) Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
(41) Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
(42) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
(43) But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
(44) Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
(45) Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
(46) Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
(47) Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
(48) But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
(49) And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
(50) The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
(51) And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Persecution is Coming
30 06 2009
Paul McGuire has written three eye-opening articles on the coming persecution of Christians in the western world.
Here are a few excerpts from those articles:
“My spiritual mentor, Dr. Francis Schaeffer, who has been called the greatest Evangelical theologian of the last 100 years, warned that as the anarchy increased in our world due to moral relativism, that totalitarianism would rise to control the chaos. … Dr. Schaeffer believed that the greatest contributing factor to the rise of totalitarianism was the fact that the Evangelical Church was accommodating to a growing humanist culture and not standing for Biblical truth.”
“There is a coming a wave of persecution against Bible believing Christians in Western nations such as Great Britain, France, Germany, the United States and other nations. The Church in all of these nations is totally unprepared for the level and intensity of the assault that is to come against true Christians.”
“What many Christians in America, Europe, Australia and other nations do not understand, because they no longer teach Bible prophecy, is that the world is shifting very quickly into a global government. … When you read the actual writing’s of the men who planned and financed one world government, it is obvious that they intend to employ totalitarianism and police state measures to accomplish their goal.  Since they believe that men and women are simply evolved animal’s they are actively implementing global social, economic and political policies in what t can only be described as ‘Social Darwinism.’ Most contemporary Christian leaders are incapable of grasping the full implications of exactly what that means to Christians in the 21st Century, because their theology is not Biblically based.”
I highly recommend all Bible-believing Christians and Messianics to read all three of these articles.
Slaves of Messiah Enduring Persecution
I recently watched the videos of John MacArthur’s messages from last year titled “Slaves for Christ” and “The Persecution and Endurance of Christians.”  Since we are living in troublesome times, I believe these messages will be both an encouragement and a challenge to you.
G-20 and New World Order
5 04 2009
From The Daily Jot:
The Gang of 20 And The New World Order
By Bill Wilson, Daily Jot News Service Senior Analyst
WASH—Apr 3—DJNS– The mouthpiece of the new world order—the mainstream news media—is falling all over itself to show the images and symbols of how leaders of the 20 most powerful nations on earth came together to “save the world.” Their tinny reporting has all the makings of a corny B movie about a bunch of inexperienced, yet cunning crooks, plotting to close down or control all the places where people keep their money, steal the world’s wealth, redistribute it among their buddies, and deceive the masses while appearing to be a frat house of raucous superheroes. Unfortunately, the world stage is little different than Hollywood and the myth of the movie is, in truth, a reality show.
Honest Americans now considered “terrorists”
22 03 2009
Remember the Left Behind series where Christians are considered the enemy of all that is “good” and “peace promoting” concerning the one world government?  I don’t know about you, but I have been watching the attitudes of various people groups in recent years, not to mention the mainstream media (which brainwashes its listeners), and I have noticed that what is considered “only fiction” by most Christians is fast becoming reality right here in America.   Pro-lifers, those who are against the North American Union, and those who believe the Bible and appreciate the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution are now being considered “dangerous.”
This reminds me of the verse that talks about people who call evil “good” and good “evil.”  If you love GOD and His Word, you are the enemy of “you know who.”  (See the recent post concerning genuine revival in China.  Are we going to have to suffer similar persecution here in America before there is real revival here?)
Ravenhill Challenge
2 03 2009
In 1989 Dr. Michael L. Brown wrote The End of the American Gospel Enterprise.  Neill Gibson, Director of Israel & the Nations House of Prayer, says that this book “challenges us to drop all the vain trappings we have surrounded Jesus with and to cry out for Him again.”  In the Forward, Leonard Ravenhill, twentieth century revivalist wrote, “There is not much that has been written in recent years that has stirred me. This book stirred me. I read it with great profit. It is vibrant and has an anointing.”
This year, July 2009, churches, home churches, and perhaps study groups will take The Ravenhill Challenge:  “I recommend that this book be read publicly, two chapters at a time without comment, in the mid-week service of every evangelical church in the nation. If they will do that in each church, it could shake the whole country.”
Offense of the Cross Ceasing
23 12 2008
HERE is an article by David A. Porter at Boomer in the Pew blog.
“Do you find this image [pic HERE] offensive?  To be honest, I find it horribly offensive.
“But, the Jesus Christ that many have manufactured, in their minds, might just as well be Santa Claus, for he isn’t real either.
“This Christmas seems to be bringing me a sadness that I haven’t experienced in the past.  Although I am eternally grateful, that God chose to become incarnate, allowed himself to be born in a manger, and ultimately lay his life down on the cross for my life…yet I still feel sadness.”
Biblical Discernment or Judgmentalism
23 12 2008
An Analysis of Tolerance in the Christian’s Life
Author: Russ Wise
Date: 10/17/2006 10:03:19 PM
It happened again – I have been accused of being judgmental. The issue that needs our attention is the idea that we are not to judge others, especially the brethren, but is this idea biblical or is there more that we should consider. A primary concern for the body of believers is that syncretism has invaded the church. Many of those who claim Christianity as their world view do not hold to a thoroughly biblical view. We now live in a society that does not honor truth in an absolute form. Actually, the spirit of this age rejects absolutes.
