Call Upon Him

15 06 2011

The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.  (Psalm 145:18 KJV)

From Clarke’s Commentary:
“The Lord is nigh – Whoever calls upon God in truth, with a sincere and upright heart, one that truly desires his salvation, to that person God is nigh. The following verse shows he is not only near to praying people, but
1.  He will hear their cry.
2.  Fulfill their desires.
3.  Save them. Reader, lift up thy soul in prayer to this merciful God.”

Rick Warren & his latest plan

16 01 2011

Thanks to the discernment of Christians like Stacy Harp of Active Christian Media, we can be aware of the latest antics of world leader buddy, Rick Warren, which can be seen from this article. And this article from Pew Forum reveals that an atheist is Warren’s mentor.

” ‘The most significant sociological phenomenon of the second half of the 20th century has been the development of the large pastoral church – of the mega-church. It is the only organization that is actually working in our society.’  I [Rick Warren] happen to know because he’s [Peter Drucker] my mentor. I’ve spent 20 years under his tutelage learning about leadership from him, and he’s written it in two or three books, and he says he think it’s the only thing that really works in society.”

Why does a pastor have an atheist as his mentor?!

For more information see this article from KJOS Ministries, who also have discernment.

Thank the LORD for the few ministries who not only have discernment, but also the backbone to stand up for the eternal truth of the Holy Word of the Most High GOD!

Reading Plan 2011

3 01 2011

What is your Bible reading plan for 2011?

Straight through from Genesis to Revelation?  Chronological?  Focusing on two books per session?  Other reading plans?

Here’s an article on Bible memorization to consider as you begin your reading schedule.

Why memorize Scripture?

Bible Reading Plan – Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec 2010

17 10 2010

B”H

My reading schedule now follows the weekly Torah reading schedule for the Hebrew calendar year which began a couple of weeks ago.  I’m going through Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers & Deuteronomy through the year along with devotionals that coincide with those readings.  Along the way, I plan to be reading in the rest of the Scriptures throughout the year.  So for now I’m in the book of Genesis.  :)

What’s your reading plan?

Holy Days Celebration

23 09 2010

Happy Feast of Tabernacles / Booths/ Sukkot !!

Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein. These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD. Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.
(Leviticus 23:36-44 KJV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(John 1:1-14 KJV)

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons. And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served  God with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
(Luke 2:1-39 KJV)

How to Read the Bible

31 08 2010

Remember Dr. J. Vernon McGee?  I have been very blessed by listening to his Bible studies over the years.  He has been one of those who has been a part of my spiritual growth & I’m so very thankful!  :)   I can’t say that I have agreed 100% with everything he has taught (or anyone else, for that matter – after all, none of us is perfect) but one thing is for sure:  Dr. McGee really loved the Word of GOD & taught it with conviction.  Now THAT is a Bible teacher!

And that is why I really appreciate this article titled, How to Read the Bible, edited from one of his messages on Nehemiah.  What do you think of this article?

Bible Reading Plan NEW SCHEDULE

31 08 2010

B”H

Starting this year in September, we will be using the Hebrew calender instead of the Gregorian calendar for scheduling our Bible reading & studies.  See this LINK for this year & scroll down to September to see where the Hebraic calendar begins.

Until the Hebrew year begins, my plan is to scatter around in the Psalms for some really good reading.  Of course, it is your choice when & how to plan your Bible reading.  The important thing is to get started & keep going with it.  Falling behind on reading the Word should not cause discouragement, though; pick up the Bible & read again.  Watch & see what HE does with HIS Word in your heart.  :)

What is your plan for reading GOD’s Word?  :)

Bible Plan for March 2010

B”H

My plan for March is quite simple.  With Passover coming in a few weeks, I plan to be preparing for that in my studies.  So March will be a month of reading & studying GOD’s Word on the topics of Passover & Redemption.  I also plan to be memorizing several portions of Scripture.

What is your Bible plan for March?  :)

Bible Plan for February 2010

31 01 2010

B”H

Here’s what I’m doing for The Bible Challenge this month (Feb). I’m still excited and encouraged!  There are many distractions that seem to be beyond my control, but I’m determined to dig into the Word more and more!  :)

February 2010 – Reading

Weeks are Mon – Fri

  • Sunday – Upcoming Torah portion
  • Week 1 – Genesis 1 – Genesis 46
  • Week 2 – Genesis 47 – Leviticus 3 (This includes all of Exodus.)
  • Week 3 – Leviticus 4 – Numbers 23
  • Week 4 – Numbers 24 – Deuteronomy 34
  • Shabbat (Sat.) – Torah portion review & Psalms / Proverbs (1 chapter each)

February 2010 – Reading/Memorizing

I hope to memorize Yochanan (John) 14  & Psalm 103 by the end of the month.

Weeks are Mon – Fri

  • Week 1 – John 14:1-15 (Read & study flash cards daily.)
  • Week 2 – John 14:16-31 (Read & study flash cards daily.)
  • Week 3 – Psalm 103:1-11 (Read & study flash cards daily.)
  • Week 4 – Psalm 103:12-22 (Read & study flash cards daily.)

I will let you know how I do this month with this reading plan.  It will be quite a challenge to read the first five books of Scripture in only four weeks, in addition to reviewing the previous month’s readings and memorizing two chapters, but it is *not* impossible.  In fact, I’m looking forward to getting started on this month’s readings!  Please be praying that I stick to this plan and accomplish my goals.  Thank you!  :)   All glory to the Most High GOD! \o/

What do you have planned for February in The Bible Challenge?  :)
